Project Accountant - Mining Industry

ABOUT THE JOB:

Our client, a leading international company has a rare opportunity for a Project Accountant.

As the Project Accountant you will be working in a fast paced, multi-project environment providing performance reports, budgeting/forecasting and business support. We are in search of someone who is exceptional at these tasks and looking to create efficiencies in their standard operating procedures. You will need to be capable of aligning and communicating these reports with Finance, Area Managers, Project Controls, Payroll, Engineers, Contractors and Clients.  


 

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING: 

  • Responsible for the timely and accurate completion of all monthly financial reports.

  • Presentation of key variables to stakeholders such as 

    • Project Cash flow analysis 

    • Labour, Equipment and Materials (LEMs)

    • Electronic daily Billings. 

    • Project variance reporting.

    • Monthly project estimates

    • Underlying performance variances against forecast

  • Perform revenue & accrual entries from information provided by other departments. 

  • Actively participate and support the monthly closing and billing cycles.

  • Support management and teams providing them with sufficient data, analysis and support for plans, forecasts, and business initiatives to enable performance delivery and enhanced decision-making.

  • Lead/Collaborate with cross functional teams for identifying areas of performance improvements.

 


 

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related courses or disciplines. 
  • CPA/CA/CFA Designation preferred, but not required
  • 3 - 5  years of accounting experience, preferably in construction, oil & gas, mining, or other large project environment.
  • Experience with JD Edwards, Insight Console, MS Office, SharePoint, SAP, or ERP 
  • Experience implementing processes for financial reporting, and overseeing the preparation of all reporting
  • Experience reviewing and advising on complex business contracts; financial, customer and vendor
  • Self-starter, works well with minimum supervision  
  • Able to work well under pressure and meet set deadlines  
  • Well-developed project management, organizational and time management skills   
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills  
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
