ABOUT THE JOB:
 

The primary role of the Mechanic is to perform preventive maintenance and repairs to diesel, electric/hydraulic and air operated equipment and components; maintains supplies in underground areas, i.e., shops and warehouse; troubleshoot and repair equipment where it breaks down; assist and carry out repairs and maintenance to all underground equipment.

 


 

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING: 

  • Perform repairs to equipment including MTI Jumbo, MacLean Bolters, CAT1700 Loaders, 30 Tone trucks, remote scoop.

  • Perform diagnostic testing to identify problems and determine the solution to solve problems

  • Report any irregular circumstances or conditions related to area of responsibility

  • Accurately fill out any preventative maintenance check sheet related to work. 

  • Help train new employees and/or apprentices in the day to day operations and on the procedures of operating equipment

  • Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems

  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturer specifications

 


 

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE:

  • 2 years+ maintenance and repairs to underground mining equipment

  • Knowledge of Bolter, Scissor lift, Personnel carrier, Raise climbers, ladders.

  • Ability to read, use, and understand Hydraulic & Electrical schematics, Engine & Powertrain Diagnostic software

  • Ability to service and diagnose Diesel Engines, Powertrains, and Brake Components

  • Knowledge of the mining industry

  • A high level of alertness to detect hazardous conditions.

  • Being able to lift an average of 55lbs on a daily basis. 

  • Work on your feet for extended periods. 

  • Have a valid driver's permit as well as being able to pass a medical and drug screening.

CANDIDATES WITH THE FOLLOWING EXPERIENCE ARE HIGHLY DESIRED:

  • Experience maintaining and repairing mining machinery specifically: MTI Jumbo, MacLean Bolters, CAT1700 Loaders, 30 Tonne trucks, remote scoop.

  • Knowledge of Shaft Sinking Equipment

  • Experience with Alimak motors
